Rust on the chain, need advice.

How much rust on the chain is too much? Is this a safety issue? Sorry for the dumb question. I've never had to do this on my own before. I don't have any tools or knowledge to repair or clean, so if it's a no-go, I'd need to hopefully find a place open to replace it. Thanks in advance.

I don't want to take the responsibility if advising you on what to do so i'll just say what i would do if my chain was like that. I would check the inner links for rust first, if there isn't any and it's only on the outer links i would ride it, but not too much. Also i would check the o-rings for cracks or corrosion of any kind, if there is any i wouldn't ride it. With the above said the best course of action is undoubtedly finding a place to change it asap before riding it

Maybe late but I'd defo change it..
Also don't use any wd40 based chain lube.. In my experience it's rubbish..
The muck off stuff (it's pink n smells like bubblegum) is the best chain lube I've come across.

    Good luck!

Put a coating of gear oil on it and ride it. Long as there’s no stiff links it will be good.
