Description

IMPORTANT UPDATE 5/11/20!!! PLEASE READ TO THE END!!!!

International Female Ride Day is a global campaign introduced by Vicki Gray, director and founder of Motoress Magazine to ensure the growth of women in motorcycling. In the last ten years, women riders have doubled in numbers, making almost one in five riders on the road female. The focus of this event is to get women riders and the men who support them to get out and "just ride". This one day is devoted to all women riders of all levels of ability and ages to demonstrate their personal passion for riding. You'll meet and network with other women who ride and find support and comeraderie by fostering new friendships by participating in this event.

This ride spans over 200 miles (with refueling stops) to destinations supporting #IFRD and women who ride. This ride is a fundraiser for Life Renewal Center at Village Pointe, an organization that provides no-cost human hair wigs for women undergoing chemotherapy. When you get your registration ticket for this ride, know we appreciate your $20 donation because strong women should support other strong women in weak moments of their lives.

We will begin and end our epic day at Mahoney State Park. Registration will open at 08:30 at the Lakeview Shelter inside the park. Registered riders can pick up their "swag bags" at that time. When entering the park, take the first right. Go past Lakeside Campground and take the next right to the Lakeview Shelter. There will be assistance in parking and staging bikes there.

Rider meeting will be at 9:30 to outline the route, determine rider position in the group and answer questions. The Chrome Divas of Omaha have volunteered to provide road security, so please follow their instructions to keep the group safe and together.

From Mahoney State Park, our stops will include stops in southeast Nebraska and Southwest Iowa for an amazing day of sisterhood and wind therapy.

At the end of the ride, we'll go back to Lakeview Shelter for food, music and photos of you and your bike. You can choose to camp at Mahoney State Park for an additional fee as well.

In addition to our ride, we'll have a 50/50 raffle and more surprises to come! Keep an eye on this event for updates!

***ALL VEHICLES...INCLUDING MOTORCYCLES...MUST HAVE A STATE PARK PERMIT TO ENTER MAHONEY STATE PARK!!!***

Q: Can men join the event?

A: Absolutely! We just ask that the women ride up front and men ride toward the rear. If you choose to ride toward the rear with your man, you certainly may! It's all about what makes you happy!

Q: Where can I learn more about IFRD?

A: https://bit.ly/2Xjfdyc

Q: What kind of bike do you have to ride?

A: Whatever bike you ride! IFRD doesn't restrict brands of bikes; you only need what you can ride safely at highway speeds an you need to be able to ride 100 miles between refueling.

Q: Do I have to ride the whole tour? Can I join the tour at one of the restaurant stops?

A: Absolutely! Just specify on the comment on the Facebook event page where you'll be joining/departing the tour so we keep an accurate count of riders.

Q: Are there any rules?

A: To ride in this tour, we recommend getting your first spring ride out of the way prior to IFRD and have some basic experience in riding in a staggered group. At no time should riders ride side-by-side. We'd also prefer that you have an insured motorcycle and a motorcycle endorsement on your license. And, of course, you must understand that Nurse Ratchet is organizing this from the goodness of her heart, as dark and crusty as that may be, and will not accept responsibility for any injuries, thefts etc. from your voluntary participation in this ride.

As always, ride your ride. If something is uncomfortable, use your best judgement and keep yourself safe, being mindful for the safety of the group.

But most of all enjoy yourself!
