George Clooney is “recovering at home and will be fine,” his publicist said, following a scooter crash in Italy on Tuesday that caused a rash of speculation on social media about the actor’s health.
At 8:15 a.m., Mr. Clooney was riding a scooter on the island of Sardinia when a Mercedes-Benz failed to respect his right of way and the two collided, according to Alberto Cicognani, one of the police officers who attended the scene.
Mr. Clooney, 57, “slammed” into the car’s windshield, Mr. Cicognani added in an emailed statement.
A local newspaper tweeted a photo of the scene, leaving fans concerned about Mr. Clooney’s condition, but it quickly became clear the incident was not life-threatening.
Mr. Clooney was taken to a nearby hospital for a magnetic resonance imaging scan, but it showed no issues and he was discharged, Mr. Cicognani said. Mr. Clooney’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, later confirmed the actor was recovering.
