“After 20 years the Hayabusa sportsbike is close to be taken off the market at the end of this year” – we reported to you near a week ago. And now it’s still unclear – were these just rumors or reality?
Well, while it's a fact that production of the current model has ended due to tightening Euro 4 emission and safety regulations, there is still a hope for a new version, which can be in the works. And for sure, all fans and Suzuki lovers support the theory that the Busa may just be taking a break.
We won’t deny the fact, that the current version of Suzuki Hayabusa will no longer be available for sale in the EU in 2019, but this doesn’t exclude the fact, that the Busa is still legal for consumption in virtually every other country.
One more confirmed fact! In the US market Suzuki Motor includes the Hayabusa into the 2019 model range. It means, the Busa will still be available in the USA at least during the next year.&
Let’s remind, that 2019 will be the Busa’s 20th anniversary. If you look at the report from Europe as confirmation that Suzuki is no longer going to make the Hayabusa, the key words here are no longer in its current form.
We could talk at length about whether an all-new Busa model will be shown at INTERMOT or EICMA this year or it will be a 2020 model. Who knows?
The more likely tech specs are well over 200hp, a full electronics suite that includes traction control, ride-by-wire, and likely IMU-assisted goodies like launch control.
But more important, we still believe the Hayabusa is just taking a break and an all-new model is on the way.
