Right behind Pirelli, Dunlop has released new tires for small displacement motorcycles.
Italians have released the all-new KR448 front and KR451 rear sizes, specifically designed to work with small displacements bikes in the 300 to 400cc range. The slicks are made at Dunlop’s Buffalo plant.
“We designed tires to provide more grip for the small bikes. At local tracks I heard a lot of guys talking about slicks, so it seems like it would be a good demand for a small slick”, - said John Robinson, the Tire Design Engineer behind the project. – “After testing we chose the 140/70 profile versus the 150/60 to ensure high lean angles. The 140 is slightly narrower, but the transitions are quicker because of the height. The 200/60 follows the same principle. We managed to get a bigger footprint at maximum lean”.
