You should know the name “Spondon”, if you are interested in streetfighters of the 80-90s. Their tuning frames have attached a legendary status. It is believed thattheir engineering prowess made the Japanese take chassis development more seriously.
Dave Solomon of Butchered Classicsis keen on making streetfighters.
“I had a Spondon frame that I can ride hard and throw into corners without a care. It handles excellent” – Dave said.
In 2016 Dave Solomon built a streetfighter with a Spondon frame and a Bandit 1200 airman. He tested it on the Isle of Man and was very disappointed when a young rider on his very fast R1 came past him like Dave was stood still. At that point, Dave knew it was time for a turbocharger!
Rebuilding the motor was not an option, as it was expensive. For this reason, Dave purchased a complete turbocharged 1200 Bandit. He had to remove the engine to install everything. And now what?At 6000 rpm, the turbo starts spinning, the front wheels are headinginto the air and the motorcycle rushes forward.
