KTM continues to collect European motorcycle brands known for their dirt bikes. The most significant was purchasing of Husqvarna, and now Stefan Pierer and his team acquired 60% of the shares of Spanish dirt bike marque GasGas.
The acquisition is actually really interesting, as KTM and GasGas’s owner, Black Toro Capital, have already collaboratedin the development of electric motorcycles.GasGas and Torrot got access to the KTM dealership network, and the Austrian manufacturer - to the development of the Spaniards. The purchase is a logical step with a purpose of further integration and co-development on the rapidly growing market of electric motorcycles.
For GasGas, this purchase means greater stability and confidence in the future, as well as faster development and increased sales.KTM's huge dealer network and advertising potential should help.
Production for GasGas branded dirt bikes will remain in Spain.
The deal has yet to go through all sorts of antitrust committees. If everything ends well, KTM will own a solid package of off-road brands:Husaberg, Husqvarna, GasGas and Torrot.
