While rumors about the arrival of a new Honda CBR600RR are becoming more insistent, there is someone who works with the imagination and even imagines the birth of an unprecedented CBR7500RR. What you see above, in fact, are not official Honda images, but the rendering created by the Indonesian designer Deh Hasi.
But let’s take a step back. To tell the truth, there was a CBR750RR in Honda history. At the end of the 1980s, Honda’s seven-way road was the VFR750, and it is flanked in the range by the exclusive RC30, a race replica intended for a few customers. In 1998, Tadao Baba, at Honda’s research and development department, took on the role of directing the company’s new “Sport Bike” project. So Baba begins his new task following the “Total Control” philosophy, that is, motorbikes that are fun to ride and easy to control. His first bike was born relatively quickly, taking advantage of the material inherited from his predecessor, and was baptized CBR750RR. Honda managers, however, block its development and production as with a displacement of 750 cc the new RR collides with the VFR750 and RC30. Baba is also advised against reaching 1,000 cc as it would take away from the ‘sports’ CBR1000.
Tadao doesn’t take it and with his new project he goes “halfway”: in 1992 the production of the CBR900RR FireBlade begins, which in a short time becomes a milestone in motorcycling.
