Everyone’s talking about the fastest growing segment of the motorcycle industry: women riders. Companies and organizations tout the 19% of female riders as the hope of the industry - as though they had anything to do with it!
Who’s putting the spark in motorcycling? Women riders, that’s who, and it’s time to celebrate that fact and claim our place with a record Women Riders Turnout after the Biker Belles.
On Tuesday August 11 at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip during the 2020 Sturgis Rally, the same year we mark the centennial of the 19th amendment conferring on women the right to vote, we’ll show the motorcycle industry and the riding world what that 19% looks like, in a real-time, visible way that can’t be ignored.
Women riders - pilots and passengers alike - will turn out on that day, after the Biker Belles at the Buffalo Chip, to give a shout and fully occupy our role in motorcycling’s past, present and future. A role no one has given us, but one we have created. Let’s own it!
The Turnout is 100% organic; there’s no registration, no corporate sponsors, no external confirmation, no drama. The drone goes up, the gathering is recorded, then we’ll disperse to do what we love: ride our bikes. You want to be there!
Details of the Turnout will leak via social media as August 11th approaches through trusted sources in the women rider’s network we’ve built. If you head up a group and want to be added, contact: Marilyn Stemp at marilyn@buffalochip.com.
We know who we are and what we do. We simply need to own our place in motorcycling and show everyone else what that looks like. That’ll happen at the Women Riders Turnout.
